Here is a Youtube video with 30 sec samples from each track of The Strokes new LP, Angles. Better hurry, I doubt this video will stay up long.

Connections

I always like finding out that the music that I dig is interconnected. I've just starting getting into the Van Morrison era of the band THEM. I was surprised to discover that not only did they have a rather good cover of Dylan's It's All Over Now Baby Blue, but that the guitar riff from their cover was sampled by Beck on his song Jackass.

Spoils From a Library Sale

Went with the Mrs. to a library book sale in Mundelein today. Found a treasure trove of $1 VHS tapes. Almost looking forward to getting sick so I can watch these in bed all day, as VHS tapes are meant to be enjoyed.

A Take Away Show - Un Concert A Emporter

I recently had the pleasure of discovering Take Away Shows, which is a video series produced by a french website called La Blogotheque. They describe the series as:

Every week, we invite an artist or a band to play in the streets, in a bar, a park, or even in a flat or in an elevator, and we film the whole session. Of course, what makes the beauty of it is all the little incidents, hesitations, and crazy stuff happening unexpectingly. Besides, we do not edit the videos so they look perfectly flawless, instead we keep the raw sound of the surroundings. Our goal is to try and capture instants, film the music just like it happens, without preparation, without tricks. Spontaneity is the keyword.

I highly recommend checking this site out. A great way to spend a lazy afternoon.

Build It Up Just to Burn It Back Down

I'm not sure what this blog will be. In the past I've had problems sticking with these. I tried maintaining a music blog for a while, had one for photographs, and had a personal one. All of those went stale and unused. So I'm going to try it one more time, though this time no more specializations. Just want ever comes to mind. A record I'm digging, a movie I hated, some photos, everything is fair game. Be ye warned.
